Character Details
Zar'thex was raised in the githyanki fortress-city of Tu'narath in the Astral Sea, trained from birth to be a warrior in the eternal crusade against the illithids. She excelled in both martial combat and the rudimentary arcane arts that githyanki knights cultivate, rising quickly through the ranks. But during a raid on a mind flayer nautiloid in Wildspace, she witnessed her commanding officer slaughter an entire ship of freed thralls — innocent people whose only crime was having once been enslaved by illithids. Something broke in her loyalty that day. She killed her officer, seized the nautiloid, and fled into the vastness of Wildspace with a handful of like-minded defectors. Now she sails the crystal spheres as a freelance captain, taking contracts that interest her and avoiding both githyanki hunting parties and mind flayer slavers.
"I command every situation I enter. In Wildspace, hesitation means death, and I did not survive this long by being indecisive."
"Independence. I abandoned one master and I will not bend my knee to another. My ship, my rules, my destiny."
"My crew chose to follow me into exile. Their lives are my responsibility, and I will burn a crystal sphere to ashes before I let them down."
"I carry the arrogance of my people like a second skin. I believe I am smarter and stronger than most beings I encounter, and I am not always wrong — but it makes allies difficult to keep."

A tall, imposing githyanki woman with angular features, yellow-green skin, and burning amber eyes that carry an undeniable intensity. She wears a suit of ornate half-plate scavenged from a githyanki knight she killed, modified with arcane sigils that faintly glow when she casts spells. A silver sword — the prized weapon of githyanki warriors — hangs at her hip, and she carries herself with the innate superiority that her people are infamous for.
