Backstory

Gaius Aurelian grew up in the sprawling capital of Thyatis City, the son of a minor patrician family that had served in the imperial legions for five generations. He enlisted as soon as he came of age, eager to uphold his family's tradition of martial service. After distinguishing himself in border skirmishes against Alphatian raiders along the Isle of Dawn, Gaius was reassigned to a remote garrison in the Grand Duchy of Karameikos, where the empire's influence is tenuous at best. He has witnessed the strange magic and ancient ruins that dot the Known World, and while his training tells him to trust steel over sorcery, he cannot deny that Mystara harbors forces beyond imperial understanding. Gaius fights not just for the empire, but to prove that discipline and courage can overcome any threat this wild land throws at him.
