Character Details
Fenn's thesis was titled "Practical Applications of Sculpted Evocation in Urban Demolition and Reconstruction." The research was groundbreaking. The practical demonstration, less so. When the Controlled Fireball intersected with an unexpected pocket of residual abjuration energy in the library's warding system, the resulting detonation was, in Fenn's own words, "a statistically improbable but scientifically fascinating cascading failure." The Guild called it "arson." Fenn maintains it was "an aggressive field test." Either way, he's no longer welcome at the Academy. He's taken his research on the road, funding his work through adventuring and looking for rare reagents in places that don't have libraries he can accidentally destroy. He keeps meticulous notes and always carries a fire extinguisher — both habits he developed too late.
"I use technical jargon to describe simple things. A campfire is "a sustained exothermic oxidation event.""
"Knowledge. The path to power and self-improvement is through knowledge."
"I have an incomplete formula that could change the world. I just need a few more ingredients and a safe place to test it."
"I am convinced my way is the correct way and will argue the point long past when anyone is listening."
