Elf · Scholar

An elderly elven historian who has studied the Sunken Vault for decades. Possesses a partial map of the upper level. Will trade information for a copy of any inscriptions found inside.

Tormund Steelhammer

Dwarf · Blacksmith

A stout dwarf smith in the nearby town. Sells dungeon exploration equipment at fair prices. His grandfather entered the Vault and never returned — Tormund wants to know his fate.

The Warden

Undead · Dungeon Guardian

An ancient undead knight who patrols the lower level. Once the vault's protector in life, now bound to guard it in death. May be reasoned with if the party shows the proper sigil.

Human · Rival Adventurer

Leader of a competing adventuring party called the Silver Blades. Cunning and ruthless, she will ally with or betray the party depending on circumstances.

Gnome · Trapped Prisoner

A gnome tinker captured by the dungeon's traps weeks ago. Starving and terrified but knows valuable shortcuts through the lower level. Will be eternally grateful for rescue.

Damp corridors of worked stone lined with flickering magical torches. Contains barracks for long-dead guards, a flooded armory, and several trapped treasure rooms.

Deeper chambers with ornate carvings and magical wards. The air is cold and still. Undead patrols wander the halls. A hidden passage leads to the boss chamber.
