Story Arcs

Arc 1

The Awakening

The adventurers arrive on the island of Obojima and discover they can perceive spirits that others cannot. They learn the ways of the island and begin to understand the growing imbalance between the mortal and spirit worlds.

Arc 2

The Corruption Cleansed

A dark corruption spreads from the heart of the spirit forest, twisting creatures and poisoning the land. The adventurers must gather rare ingredients, forge alliances with powerful spirits, and confront the source of the blight.

Arrival on Obojima

The party arrives at Kampung Laut, a fishing village built on stilts over turquoise water. Introduce Elder Seri and the spirit festival. The party witnesses a spirit crossing — something that should not be visible to outsiders.

The Spirit Paths

Kai Whisperleaf guides the party into the Verdant Veil to learn the basics of spirit interaction. They encounter their first wild spirits and discover a corrupted clearing where flowers wilt and spirits flee.

The Potion Market

Rival potion crafter Madame Ratu challenges the party to a brewing competition at the village festival. Gathering ingredients leads to encounters in the jungle. Winner earns a rare spirit-sight elixir recipe.

Whispers of Corruption

The corruption worsens. Twisted spirit-beasts attack the village outskirts. The party must defend Kampung Laut and track the corruption to its source in the Withered Grove.

The Mountain Shrine

The party ascends Mount Batara to seek the blessing of the mountain spirit. They must pass three trials of wisdom, courage, and compassion to earn the purification ritual.

Cleansing the Grove

Armed with the purification ritual and allied spirits, the party enters the Withered Grove to confront the Corrupted Guardian — a once-noble treant spirit twisted by dark magic. Final battle and resolution.

Human · Village Elder

Wise and serene leader of Kampung Laut. She remembers the last time the spirit world fell out of balance, fifty years ago. Speaks in proverbs and always serves tea before discussing serious matters.

Kai Whisperleaf

Half-Elf · Spirit Guide

A young spirit-speaker who can see and communicate with spirits naturally. Energetic and curious, but haunted by visions of the growing corruption. Carries a staff adorned with spirit charms.

Madame Ratu

Halfling · Rival Potion Crafter

Brilliant but competitive alchemist who brews potions from spirit-touched ingredients. Initially antagonistic toward the party but can become a valuable ally if shown respect. Her potions are the best on the island.

The Corrupted Guardian

Treant · Former Spirit Protector

Once the benevolent guardian of the Verdant Veil, now twisted by a dark curse into a malevolent force. It spreads corruption unconsciously, trapped in a nightmare it cannot wake from. Can potentially be saved rather than destroyed.

Bima the Fisher

Human · Fisherman and Guide

Jovial boat captain who ferries travelers between the island villages. Knows every cove and current around Obojima. His grandmother was a spirit-speaker, and he sometimes sees flickers of the spirit world at sunset.

The Verdant Veil

A dense tropical forest where the boundary between mortal and spirit worlds grows thin. Luminescent flowers bloom at twilight, and ghostly creatures flit between massive banyan trees draped in spirit moss.

Mount Batara Shrine

An ancient stone shrine perched atop the island's highest peak, surrounded by perpetual mist. Three trial chambers carved into the mountainside test those who seek the mountain spirit's blessing.

The Withered Grove

A corrupted section of the spirit forest where trees have turned black and brittle. The air tastes of ash, and twisted spirit-beasts prowl among the decaying vegetation. At its heart stands the corrupted guardian.

The Withered Grove spreads a blight that threatens to consume the entire island. Find the source of the corruption and perform the purification ritual before the spirit world collapses into the mortal plane.

Gather Rare Ingredients

Madame Ratu needs three spirit-touched ingredients for the purification elixir: moonpetal blossoms from the mountain shrine, luminescent moss from the deep forest, and crystallized spirit dew from a sacred spring.

Befriend the Mountain Spirit

The ancient spirit of Mount Batara holds the key to the purification ritual. Climb the mountain, pass its three trials, and earn its blessing — but the spirit has not spoken to mortals in decades.

Win the Spirit Festival

The annual spirit festival includes a potion-brewing competition, spirit-creature races, and a lantern ceremony. Winning earns the village's trust and access to Elder Seri's private spirit lore archives.
